Academic Awards
These awards are presented to the students at the awards ceremony on the last
day of school. Students must meet the following criteria for the
following:
| Honor Roll |
This trophy is awarded to a student earning a final
general average of 90 or above. This student must also earn a 90
or above in the Basic or Complete Battery section of the national
achievement test given in the spring. |
| Achievement |
This trophy is awarded to students who may not have
met the criteria for Honor Roll, but have worked exceptionally and
consistently hard all year. Students scoring much higher on
performance than their ability level indicates on the national
achievement test are often good candidates for this award. |
| Citizenship Award |
This award is presented to a student in each upper
elementary homeroom at the end of each quarter. Teachers of each
homeroom discuss and vote on an individual who exhibits qualities of
citizenship and exemplifies the following characteristics:
| - one who looks after the duties and rights of
others |
| - one who is not self-serving |
| - one who cares for the needs of others before
his/her own |
| - one who will assist others with a smile |
| - one who is a pleasure to all |

| The Clendon J. Butera
Memorial Award |
For the 7th grader receiving this award, the student
earns a waiver of tuition for his/her 8th grade year. At
graduation, an outstanding 8th grade student is recognized as one who
possesses the qualities of the founder of Lake Castle Private School,
Clendon J. Butera. Teachers privately vote on their selection of
the students who exhibit the following characteristics:
| - Honesty and integrity |
| - Devotion to hard work, superior work ethic |
| - Exemplary character and leadership qualities |
| - Respect for others |

| Elizabeth Schiro Award |
This honor is presented to an 8th grade student at
graduation. Teachers privately vote on a student who is
nurturing and caring to all he/she meets. The needs of others
are always more important than the needs of this individual.
This student exemplifies outstanding kindness toward his/her fellow
man. |
